The Real Big Deal Disc Golf Tournament Part of The Real Big Deal Music, Arts & Camping Festival Weekend ABOUT THE FESTIVAL: Get ready for The Real Big Deal, Gainesville, Florida's only outdoor music and camping festival. The Real Big Deal will feature live music on 4 stages, onsite camping, arts/crafts, and carnival midway, along with an assortment of food and beverage vendors. On the outskirts of Gainesville, Florida, The Real Big Deal takes place at the Alachua County Fairgrounds on September 13-14, 2008. Picture a festival where anything goes! The eclectic selection of bands is sure to please any music lover. With a total of 4 live music stages, The Real Big Deal will present national, regional and local artists in a variety of musical genres - from alternative rock, southern rock, punk, ska, funk, reggae, hip hop, electronic and indie. A number of the bands will be making regionally exclusive appearances, so you can only see them at The Real Big Deal! We hope to make this an annual community event by working with local musicians, artists, non-profit organizations, vendors and businesses. As a community we can make this festival a highlight in Gainesville's music, arts and culture scene. ABOUT THE DISC GOLF TOURNAMENT: Sun King Disc Sports in association with Innova Disc Golf and Wham-O are proud to present The Real Big Deal Disc Golf Tournament on September 12th, 2008 at Northside Park in Gainesville, FL! This event was created to give festival-goers a fun, outdoor activity before the festival weekend kicks into gear. The tournament itself is designed for new players and players that have never participated in a tournament, but we also have room for players that have been playing tournaments for years. For those that are unfamiliar with the sport of Disc Golf, think golf with Frisbees! The format is "bring your own partner" best-shot doubles which simply means you and a friend will play as a team, keeping only your best shots to accumulate the final score. Each player will receive a players package worth $20 and will be eligible to win an assortment of prizes and giveaways provided by tournament and festival sponsors. In addition, the event is offering a FLEX-START which allows participants a window from 10am-4pm to begin their round and complete the 18-hole course. To help new or inexperienced players, we will have plenty of other activities including a putting clinic and practice baskets. Tournament Details: When: Friday, Sepetember 12th - Players can start anytime between 10am & 4pm Where: Northside Park - Gainesville FL What: (1) Round of 18-Holes, Bring Your Own Partner Best Shot Doubles Who: Anyone can play! Even if you don't have a partner, we can find one for you or you can choose to play "Cali" rules, which allows solo players extra throws on each hole. How Much?: Cost is $15 per player. All online registrations are subject to a $2.00 per person processing fee. What Do I get?: The first (100) players will receive a players package valued at $20 and will include a custom golf disc with the festival logo in addition to other items. Players will also be eligible to win a variety of items that are being given away during raffles and contests. Guide to determining your division: Advanced/Pro - These players are usually long time players of (3+ years) and regularly score under par. Many are active PDGA members and play organized tournaments as well. Intermediate - Most of these players have a few years of experience (1-3) but don't consistently play under par. Some will be active PDGA members and most will have played organized tournaments. Recreational - Just like it sounds - these players play casually, sometimes a few times a week, but lack competitve training and rarely play under par. These players might not even be aware of the PDGA or it's rules that govern play. Novice - Strictly for new players that have either never played or just a handful of times. Junior - Reserved for players under 17 years old.
